Virginia has the drive, education, and experience necessary to help ensure quality is designed and built into the Hanford Vit Plant. For more than seven years, she served as a nuclear engineer at a national laboratory, performing risk and hazard analyses for nuclear facilities.
“My work at the national laboratory built the foundation of my technical understanding in new nuclear builds—from power plants to fuel fabrication facilities,” Virginia says. “Understanding the risks, particularly when it comes to waste, helps me identify issues and gauge their potential impacts.”
Virginia joined the Vit Plant in 2011 and has worked in various positions within performance assurance and quality assurance. She is currently the quality manager for the project team designing and building two of the Vit Plant’s major nuclear facilities.
Virginia serves on the front lines of quality, reviewing design documents to ensure they are accurate, reliable, and meet all requirements. Her technical background helps her work with her project team to identify, proactively resolve, and prevent potential issues.
